Deane first landed in Nelson in 1998 after bouncing around the country and globe for a few years since graduating high school in Kincardine, Ontario.

After the record snowfall winter of 98-99 the skier knew 'home' had been found. He attended Selkirk College's Ski Resort Operations and Management, and Golf Course Management, but if you want to stay and play in the Kootenays there seemed only one choice, take an advanced first aid course and go to work in the bush. While living on the North Shore Deane became a member of the North Shore Fire Dept. as firefighter and first responder, and a brief stint with BC Ambulance. In 2003 he became the new owner/operator of First Aid on Location, primarily contracted to work on forest fires in the summer and oil/gas industry in the winter.

Deane shares his passion for the outdoors with his young sons Owen and Kade. Wanting to spend more time with family and less time in the bush and on the road, he decided to become a REALTOR®, receiving his licence in January 2012.
